Banana artwork:- The process of making Banana Art is to collect Banana leaves which are not very dry. The Banana leaves are then washed, cleaned and then laid down in Sun to dry. Once dry, they are sliced to tiny strips. Then a tree bark, cloth, paper or a wooden board is used as a base to start forming the Banana Art – just depends on the type of Banana Art. Then the African Artist would select an African scene he would like to depict in his art and make a sketch on the base. The artist would slowly glue each banana leaf strip, using different shades to form African Décor Art. This is a very time consuming process. Sometimes the African Artists would also create a three dimensional art to portray their African Heritages – such as Villages, huts, trees and much more. After gluing, the art is then left to dry. Depending on style, a finishing touch of wood varnish is used to create a last layer of protection and shine.
